Brief Artist Statement

The act of painting is the natural reaction to all the stimulation I receive both from inside and from outside. I just transform into an abstract composition what surrounds me. Although I work with figurative painting, I think that it severely limits my expressive/communicative response; so, I rather prefer abstract painting.
It might appear instinct-driven at a first glance, but the abstract creative process needs a lot of thinking: "look and think seven times, paint one" is my rule of thumb.
I usually make my own media; I think that the creative process starts from the materials, such as wood or a particular kind of cloth or a different mixing of plastic media, and so, I prepare my own canvas, my encaustic medium, my wooden frames and so on.
